Privacy Policy

How City Group Legal handles the information you give us through this website.

In short: this website collects only what you type into the enquiry form, uses it only to respond to you, and shares it with nobody except the services that deliver it to us. It sets no cookies and runs no tracking of any kind.

What we collect

If you send an enquiry through this website, we collect the details you provide: your name, your phone number, your email address if you give one, the type of matter you select, and the message you write. Nothing else is collected. We do not require you to tell us anything about your matter in order to contact us, and you should not send sensitive details you would rather give a lawyer in person or by phone.

No tracking, no cookies

This website sets no cookies. It runs no analytics, advertising pixels or third-party trackers, and fonts and images are served from our own domain rather than an external network. We do not build a profile of you, and we cannot see what pages you read.

Why we collect it, and what we do with it

We use your details for one purpose: to respond to your enquiry. When you submit the form, your details are stored in our enquiry database and sent to the firm's inbox so a lawyer can contact you. Only people at the firm can access that database, through a password-protected page. We do not sell your information, and we do not use it for marketing.

Who else handles it

Two service providers carry your enquiry to us: our website host (Cloudflare), which stores the enquiry database, and our email provider (Resend), which delivers the notification to the firm. They process the information on our behalf and for no other purpose. Information sent through this website is encrypted in transit.

An enquiry is not yet a lawyer–client relationship

Sending this form does not make us your lawyers, and does not by itself create legal professional privilege. We treat what you tell us in confidence, and a solicitor's duty of confidentiality is a serious one. It is not, however, absolute: the law and the solicitors' conduct rules recognise limited exceptions, including where disclosure is compelled by a court or is necessary to prevent a serious criminal offence or serious harm to someone. If you want the full protection of privilege, speak with us and become a client of the firm.

How long we keep it

We keep enquiries only for as long as we need them: to respond to you, and to meet the professional and record-keeping obligations that apply to a law practice. When an enquiry is no longer needed for those purposes, we delete it. If you would like your enquiry deleted sooner, ask us and we will do it.

Access, correction and complaints

You can ask us what information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it, by emailing office@citygrouplegal.com.au or calling 1300 012 422. If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, tell us first and we will look into it. You may also complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au.
